Steven Cain
Steven Cain is a seasoned commercial real estate professional with over 25 years of broad-based experience in commercial real estate finance and investment. Since 2004, his primary focus has been on apartment assets, first as a lender and, most recently, as an investor utilizing his skills in financial analysis and forecasting. Steve has strong analytic and communications skills and a demonstrated track record of building relationships and closing loans.
Following graduate school, Steve spent ten years as a feasibility consultant and appraiser, first in private practice, and then at LaSalle Partners and Continental Bank in Chicago. In 1995, he joined Draper and Kramer where he worked as a commercial mortgage finance broker. Steve then spent five years at Transamerica Commercial Real Estate Finance where he was a VP of Business Development and originated over $250 million of loans on income properties, including approximately $43 million for apartment assets. Most recently, Steve worked for Washington Mutual (later JP Morgan Chase) as a Senior Loan Consultant/Client Manager in the Multi-Family Lending group, originating 190 loans totaling approximately $250MM almost exclusively on apartment properties in the Chicago and Milwaukee/Madison markets.
Steve holds a BA from Swarthmore College and an MS in Urban Planning from Columbia University in New York. He lives in Chicago and is a director of the Rogers Park Builders Group.
